BUSINESS PLAN

Marketing Brochure/Business Plan

The following describes an innovative and unusually profitable way that the Music Industry can support the non-profit, charitable world.*

*this document is a work in progress being initially composed to complete the "Partnership Questionnaire" for Susan G. Komen Foundation with whom we are currently discussing the pilot for Luckyman Records. Last year Komen channeled over $800 million to breast cancer research.

www.ShopKomen.com is now selling Garth Brooks' Greatest Hits "Pink Edition". We hope Mr. Brooks will be the artist.

Label Slogan:
Hebrew Transliteration-Tikun Olam “To live one’s life for the betterment of the world”

Mission Statement:
To establish a vehicle by which the Music Industry will channel monies to any charity wishing to participate the program, in perpetuity.

Who We Are:
Luckyman Records was founded in 2008 by Michael Gliksman. Development began after Mr. Gliksman was offered an Exclusive Production Deal for the label by Leslie Ann Jones, Director of Scoring at Skywalker Sound, a division of Lucasfilm, Ltd.

Having worked in Education and the Non-Profit world for most of his Entertainment Industry career, and being an Orthodox Jew and son of concentration camp survivors, Gliksman has been motivated by a burning desire to make the world a better place.

Luckyman Records CD/Computer Download/LP Charity Program
Once a celebrity level international artist signs on with Luckyman Records exclusively branded CDs, Downloads and LPs can be pre-sold through On-line charity and corporate websites.

The purpose of the program is two fold:

  1. it creates a new paradigm to easily raise funds for charities by targeting a broad music listening audience through pre-sales, and
  2. the program provides donors/consumers with a CD, LP and Computer Download from a celebrity level recording artist that is unique in both content and unprecedented sound quality.

Luckyman Records will help charitable organizations obtain exclusively branded and originally produced musical content that is recorded by world-renowned musical talent.

Because of the uniqueness, in many ways, of the content, each album project will become the catalyst through which thousands of non-profit organizations will raise funds from their current donors as well as attract new donors through exclusive Internet pre-sales. Internet pre-sales will occur through existing methods in place in each non-profit’s website and to the general public through major On-line sales sites by purchaser designating desired charity.

Benefactors of the charities and the general public will be able to “reserve a disc” of a well-defined album of a favorite artist expressly produced for this charitable purpose. Content will be primarily available on Redbook CD (Industry Standard 16 bit 44.1 kh) and multiple formats of High Definition downloads, as well as by special order at a premium price in High Definition CD and Vinyl records.

The “pre-sale” or “reserve a disc” monies will be held in escrow and drawn on for production and distribution costs as needed. Production will commence once the pre-sales equal 200% of the budget thereby assuring that 50% of the sale price is distributed commensurate with sources of initial collected monies. 100% of monies collected over and above production budget, minus a small fractional amount needed for continuing promotion and fulfillment will go to the designated or source charity.

A ‘reasonable” time for fulfillment will be agreed on at the outset of every project and will be included in the definition of the album content and all pre-sale promotion. Fulfillment costs for every project will be guaranteed through ongoing corporate underwriting.

Luckyman Records will establish a self-perpetuating, unprecedented channel of monies to any charity wishing to participate and those designated by the general public.

The pilot project will be underwritten in total by corporate funding once a single major charity and a celebrity level, international musician are secured. [back to top]

Production Quality and Uniqueness

Luckyman Record product will be primarily all acoustic and solo or small ensemble to cut costs and make available special, intimate recordings produced at the highest possible sound quality. This will give the public and artists involved an extraordinary recording in Redbook CD, High Definition CD, multiple definitions of Computer Downloads and Vinyl. Records. And introduce the general public to the magic of acoustic music produced at a quality to date reserved for the “audiophile market” with little or no processing. The content will consist of each artist’s most beloved songs of their own and others and some original material. Mostly, Luckyman Records will present our most loved musical artists in a manner in which they have yet been heard. Each artist’s legal teams will clear all applicable rights.

Luckyman Records takes the newly accepted Music Industry term “Unplugged” to the ultimate expression. In this case, one might instead use the term “Naked”. Because of the unprecedented production quality, material of the greatest personal meaning to each artist and, mostly, raw, stripped down recordings of one artist and their acoustic instrument the artist will be heard as never before. True “soul music” regardless of genre. [back to top]

Reasons for the Label's Necessity

Luckyman Records is vehicle whose time has come for the Music Industry and the Non-Profit world. At this time when distribution in the Music Industry is in the process of being reinvented, Luckyman will utilize and expand the use of New Media Marketing techniques and widen the availability of High Definition downloads, and introduce many to the joys of Vinyl LPs.

And to the beset Non-Profit world create a channel of significant, steady revenue potentially in perpetuity. Luckyman Records is not a one shot event to benefit a single charity. Rather a source of regular, substantial cash flow in a time when charities are struggling and many are turning to commercial endeavors.

Corporate Partners

Proposed corporate partners are online marketing sites such as Amazon, Yahoo, MSN Shopping, AOL, Google, etc. as well as any corporation or individual wishing to participate.

Luckyman Records product will be available to the general public and actively promoted through such Internet marketing sites. It will allow access to the consumer by designation of any desired charity utilizing the “pre-sale” model and the web site’s sales infrastructure.

[

Marketing and Promotions

Each participating non-profit organization will be responsible for marketing, promotion and sales of these music products through their existing fundraising and promotion tools-Internet and otherwise. On-line corporate partners will utilize existing infrastructure. Luckyman Records will supply materials and support for all marketing and promotions. [back to top]

Video

Whenever feasible, Luckyman Records in collaboration with Luckyman Media Group will produce and distribute “The Making Of” documentaries with the possibility of a broadcast television and/or On-line series.

The “Making of” DVDs will be distributed through the same channels as the music content, these will be complete films with high interest/entertainment value not only documenting the music production process but give insight into the lives, motivations and passions of the artists, as well as why they selected the songs on their albums and why they are their favorites-written by them or others.

Significantly by not exclusively drawn from footage in the above described films, promotional materials will be exploited and every effort will be made to create “viral video”. That is, relatively short video clips that can be effectively used for marketing purposes. Considering the extreme popularity of Luckyman Records’ artists, and their cooperation and collaboration to raise the maximum funds for charities participating it is reasonable to assume that such “viral” content will be generated and take full advantage of this somewhat new and truly powerful form of Internet marketing. [back to top]

Demographics

The first several Luckyman Records products will be primarily Redbook CDs. The reason, aside from cost and ease of fulfillment, is that the main market for this product will be adults in the 35-50 range. Statistically, this is the significant segment of the public continuing to purchase CD product.

As the label matures and attracts youth oriented artists the computer download market will be tapped and developed. In this way broadening the demographics into the 12-35 range. [back to top]

Budget

*This budget represents a main item listing. As the pilot develops, there will be an Excel spreadsheet time line budget generated.

The pilot program budget will establish an estimated budget for the future pre-sale model projects.

The pilot CD product will be available soon after production and will not utilize any pre-sale. In this way, the label can be readily launched and established.

Production: $20,000

Fulfillment: (including graphics and design) $30,000 for first 10,000 units (units over 10,000 will be paid for by corporate underwriting)

Promotion: $15,000

Public Relations: $5,000

Executive Producer: $10,000

Estimated Total (dependent on in-kind donations): $80,000

*For Luckyman projects beyond the pilot based on the pre-sale model, at the projected sale price of the products of $20, 7,500 units sold would equal 200% of the estimated budget. Assuming the participation of major charities with tens of millions of supporters and General Public pre-sale from major On-line sales, this number of 7,500 units sold is exponentially conservative and small.

Pilot

The first or pilot project for one major charity with one major artists totally underwritten through corporate funding will establish Luckyman Records and work through the lion’s share of the numerous aspects necessary for continuing projects based on the pre-sale model. The pilot will be offered only on Redbook CD. [back to top]
